Doom & Stones

With the Rolling Stones set to begin their 50th anniversary celebration, you knew another greatest hits compilation was around the corner. GRRR! is set to be released around the time they hit the road in November. It will be available in both 50 and 80 track versions covering pretty much any and all hits/fan favorites. Along with it are the inevitable two new songs, Doom & Gloom and One More Shot. On their most recent release A Bigger Bang, the stones proved on a few tracks that they still can put together a classic number. Doom & Gloom again proves why The Rolling Stones are still a viable rock act even after 50 years.
Immediately the opening riff brings back flashbacks to the bands peak period of the early 70s. Though a bit weathered, Mick Jagger's vocals recall that period as well. It's obvious the band was inspired from their sessions for the deluxe editions of Exile On Main Street and Some Girls. It is easy enough to say that this is the best Stones 'best of compilation new song,' however much that says.

After the Jump enjoy a nice Rolling Stones treat

There used to be a wonderful music blog named Licorice Pizza. However, it has long passed. Many moons ago he posted about an unreleased Rolling Stones compilations album, Necrophilia, that became Metamorphosis. Sporting a different track listing and some tracks that are still yet unreleased. He posted the unreleased ones and I will share them with you now. Enjoy. Especially 'Andrew's Blues'. It's clear why this one will most likely never see a proper release. Filthy.
